The laboratory of hadronic interaction physics (LHIP) was set up in 2014, April for participation of NSU team in CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) collaboration at Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and NSU team joined to CMS collaboration in 2015, February.
Novosibirsk State University enrolled as member of one of leading world experiments. CMS detector is one of two large universal detectors of elementary particles at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva.
A wide range of leading experiments to test the Standard Model, the Higgs boson study and the search for new particles is being carried out on this detector.
In present time the research conducted in the laboratory is associated with the calibration of the electromagnetic calorimeter. The analysis of the experimental data is planned.
The laboratory is conducting R&D work for time-of-flight detector based on microchannel plates (MCP) for relativistic charged particles detection with 30 picosecond resolution.
The laboratory is part of “Interdisciplinary Center of Elementary Particle Physics and Astrophysics” of physical department of NSU.
